2020park – A World Champion in Sustainability Chooses a Smarter Energy System with allmy.energy

Case study: How 2020park implemented allmy.energy for efficient energy data management, automated settlement, and sustainable cost allocation.

2020park – A World Champion in Sustainability Chooses a Smarter Energy System with allmy.energy

Nearly a hundred years after it was originally built as a brewery, 2020park now stands as a vibrant business center featuring modern technology and sustainable solutions. In 2005, Ringnes discontinued its local production of beer and soft drinks at Tou Brewery in Stavanger. Today, the former industrial site has been transformed into a business park with approximately 40 different tenants and an ambition to develop an additional 5,000 to 10,000 m² of office space per year.

2020park aims to become the most attractive office park in the Stavanger region, facilitating well-being and efficiency for its tenants and users through sustainable and innovative solutions.

The transition from a production facility to a multi-tenant business park requires a system for efficient and fair distribution of energy costs. With so many tenants, there is a continuous need to manage tenant turnover and changes in lease agreements.

Implementation of allmy.energy

2020park has implemented allmy.energy, a comprehensive system for automated meter reading, energy monitoring, and cost allocation across various energy carriers such as electricity, district cooling, and district heating.

The original energy infrastructure from the brewery was retained. However, with the addition of numerous tenants, it became necessary to install new energy meters for both exclusive and shared areas. Energy consumption is collected on an hourly basis for all energy types, and the actual cost is automatically calculated based on this data, including grid tariffs and other public fees.

Solar Energy and Automated Settlement

As part of its sustainability strategy and partial energy independence, 2020park has installed its own solar power system. The solar energy provides environmentally friendly electricity, while allmy.energy ensures fair distribution and automated invoicing among tenants.

Tenants pay spot market prices for all electricity they consume, and grid tariffs are allocated proportionally based on usage. If not all generated solar energy is consumed, the surplus is allocated to the property owner.

Domestic Hot Water and District Heating

The former brewery buildings were connected to public district heating and district cooling systems. 2020park has also added its own geothermal heat pump. Separate meters have been installed here as well to ensure accurate cost allocation with automated settlement.

Wireless Data Collection with LoRaWAN

To cover the large site area, 2020park has established a flexible metering structure based on wireless LoRaWAN communication. This makes it easy to adapt and modify the metering structure as needed while significantly reducing cabling costs. Data is collected from electricity meters, district heating, and district cooling systems via LoRaWAN.

Customer Experience

allmy.energy collaborates with Eastron Europe, a leading manufacturer of MID-certified energy meters used in the installation at 2020park.

Jarle Oftedal, Property Manager at 2020park, states that the system has made the invoicing process both simpler and more transparent:

“allmy.energy has distinguished itself by collecting and organizing data in a way that is both clear and easy to understand.”

Summary

allmy.energy enables 2020park to:

  • Manage energy data and consumption in an automated and fair manner.
  • Invoice tenants with accurate cost allocation.
  • Reduce cabling costs through wireless metering technology.
  • Integrate solar energy and other energy sources into the overall energy accounting.
